Armed robbers found ‘celebrating’ in a guest house after stealing Shs283m

The police in Jinja have arrested two suspects on allegations of armed robbery. The suspects have been identified as Isanga Godfrey, a resident of Bukatuube in Mayuge district, and Kiiza Patrick, a resident of Iganga.

According to the Kira Region Police Spokesperson, ASP James Mubi, on Monday at around 1 pm, the arrested suspects followed the Finance Manager of Victoria Nile Plastics Ltd company in Njeru, Bhaven Prajapati, from the Bank of Baroda in Jinja City.

On reaching Njeru along Kayunga road, they blocked him using their Toyota Wish vehicle with registration number UBA 032N.

“They robbed him of his money totaling Shs283 million,” said Mubi.

Mubi explained that Prajapati decided to rush to Jinja CPS and report the case.

“Our officers started tracking the culprits using the Global Positioning System (GPS) contained in the bag the robbers had disappeared with,” said Mubi.

He further disclosed that the suspects were at Rainbow Guest House in Wakitaka, Jinja City, drinking alcohol with the money in the car.

“When a thorough search was made, the police managed to also recover a gun of UPDF, type UG-UPDF-UH-3113, with 26 bullets. Shs77.02 million was recovered out of the Shs283m,” he said.
