Kiruddu Hospital performs successful plastic surgery on baby

A baby has undergone plastic surgery at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital. According to the hospital management, the baby was presented to them with a craniofacial cleft and a cleft palate.

Craniofacial clefts are severe deformities of the face and head that affect both bones and soft tissues.

The hospital management explains that they made contact with Prof. Richard Redett of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, a facility based in America, about the best surgical approach.

“The team at Kiruddu, led by Dr. Alenyo Rose, carried out the surgical repair of the nose to bring it back to position. The lower eyelid was corrected to allow her to close the eye and to prevent her from losing sight on that side,” says the hospital management.

They further reveal that the baby is yet to have more surgery to beautify the scar, but for now, she has been discharged.

Kiruddu is a government health facility specializing in internal medicine, burns, and plastic surgery.
