Senior One students at Comboni College Lira have developed a solar concentrator. Through their robotics student club, they managed to make the solar concentrator their first project.

A solar concentrator is a device that collects solar radiation and concentrates at a single focal point. The device is mainly comprised of a series of lens or mirror assemblies, a heat receiver, and a tracking system.

Under the new O’level curriculum, all students must do a project for each and every subject that they undertake. The projects can be done in any term and in any class but before the final exams in S.4.

According to the students, they made their solar concentrator from mirrors. The mirrors help to focus sunlight into an extremely small point. This focused light is intensely hot and can be used to cook food, make electricity, or scorch things.
