ROAD ACCIDENT: 103 people die in one week

A report compiled between May 1 and May 7 shows that 103 people died in road accidents across the country.

While addressing the media at police headquarters, Faridah Nampiima revealed that a total of 346 accidents occurred during the period, and out of these 64 were fatal, 168 were serious and 114 were minor.

“There were 398 accident victims during this period and, of these, 103 people died and 295 sustained injuries,” said Faridah.

According to Faridah, their investigations reveal that most accidents are caused by careless drivers and urged passengers and the public at large to always speak out.

Police also urged the public to avoid sharing videos of victims bleeding to death.

“It’s very bad. Let’s save lives first by rushing them to the nearby emergency centers,” she said.
