NUP calls for expression of interest in Omoro County byelection

The National Unity Platform (NUP) party has asked its members to express interest in the Omoro County by-election.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Jacob Oulanyah last month in Seattle, US.

In a letter dated April 20, the NUP Chairperson, Mercy Walukamba, calls upon party members willing and qualified to express interest.

“The expression of interest runs from April 20 to Friday, April 22, at 12:00 noon, “reads the letter in part.

“All interested members are requested to submit a written application to the regional party offices in Gulu City or by email,” it adds.

Meanwhile, the ruling NRM party already endorsed the late Jacob Oulanyah’s son, Andrew Ojok to run on their ticket for the Omoro County MP seat race.

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is also expected to field a candidate.

The Electoral Commission set May 26, 2022, as the date for the Omoro County by-election. The voters’ register update exercise will run from April 14–19, 2022. According to the Electoral Commission road map, the nomination of candidates will take place from May 12 to May 13 at Omoro District Council Hall. The campaigns will take place from May 16 to 24.
