Who is Brig Gen Charity Bainababo, the new Deputy Commander of SFC

Last evening, the Commander in Chief of the armed forces, President Yoweri Museveni, made promotions and appointments in the army.

UPDF MP Charity Bainababo is among those who have been promoted and appointed to new offices. Bainababo has been promoted to Brig Gen and has been appointed Deputy Commander of Special Forces Command (SFC).

She replaces Brigadier Felix Busizoori who was appointed as the acting commander of Special Force Command (SFC) after Brigadier Peter Chandia who was the commander was sent for a year’s course as one of the pioneer students of the Uganda National Defence College.

Also, Col David Mugisha has been promoted to Brig Gen and appointed 2IC of 3Div, and Lt Col Nathan Nabimanya was promoted to Col and appointed Comd 2SFG.

Who is Brig Gen Charity Bainababo?

Bainababo is a military officer and legislator. She represents the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) in the 11th parliament.

Bainababo was once the ADC (Aide-de-camp) and head of security for Uganda’s first lady and Minister of Education, Janet Kataha Museveni.

Charity has recently risen so fast in the ranks. Last year, in April, while at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, she was among the 1300 officers that President Museveni promoted.

She was consequently promoted to the rank of Colonel, and one year later, she has again been elevated to the next rank of Brigadier.

She still holds the position as the Police Presidential Guard (PPG) commander, a unit under the SFC whose role is to provide security to the First Lady and other very important persons in the country.
