Pader district CAO orders every town council and sub-county to pay Shs500,000 and Shs300,000 as contributions toward Oulanyah’s burial

The country is yet to lose its grip on the burial proceedings of fallen Speaker Rt. Hon Jacob Oulanyah as new twists and turns keep emerging towards the fallen speaker’s final send-off.

The country was yesterday enveloped in awe after details of the funeral indicated that over Shs2.5 billion would be splurged on the speaker’s burial.

Since then, the authorities from the Ministry of Finance have claimed that the hefty budget has been trimmed down to Shs1.8 billion.

As the country anticipates the arrival of the fallen Speaker’s body on Friday, the Pader District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) has taken it upon himself to see that the burial arrangements are in tip-top order as he has ordered all town councils and sub-counties within his district to cash in Shs500,000 and Shs300,000, respectively.

According to a letter that has since emerged online, to address the concern about Oulanyah’s burial arrangements, the CAO resolved that in an earlier meeting, lower governments should contribute to the late speaker’s final send-off.

The CAO noted that the contributions from these lower governments should be different from those made by the community and they should all be directed to the Chief Financial Officer.

He further copied the district chairperson, the Resident District Commissioner, and all chairpersons, asking everyone to treat the issue with the urgency it deserved.
