First Son and commander of the UPDF Land Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is in Rwanda for a one-day visit.

Muhoozi arrived at the Kigali International Airport this morning and was received by Brig Gen Willy Rwagasana, the Commandant of the Republican Guard.

Gen Muhoozi is scheduled to meet Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame this afternoon.

According to sources, the meeting between Muhoozi and Kagame is reportedly planning to resume diplomatic dialogues that stalled last year.

Uganda-Rwanda relations turned sour in 2017as Rwanda accused Uganda of harboring groups that are hostile to them, as well as torturing innocent Rwandans on its soil.

The tensions led to the closure of the common Katuna/Gatuna borders in 2019.
