Several members and supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP) are nursing injuries from running battles with the police on Tuesday.
Heavily armed security forces are battling the supporters who are lined up along the streets of Kayunga town to welcome Robert Kyagulanyi.
Kyagulanyi is expected in Kayunga to campaign for the party flag bearer, Hon. Nakwedde Harriet Kafeero in the forthcoming by-election for Kayunga LC 5 Chairperson on Thursday.
With Kyagulanyi still blocked from leaving his home in Magere, Nakwedde, and Hon. Zaake Francis among others have been reportedly brutalized by security forces in Kayunga.
They have been evacuated to a hospital in Jinja where they are currently receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, President Yoweri Museveni has already arrived at Kayonza Church of Uganda primary school, Baale Constituency in Kayunga District where he is addressing NRM party leaders and drumming up support for the NRM candidate, Andrew Muwonge.
