First son and Commander Land Forces (CLF) Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has warned the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels based in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo to surrender or be forceful be smoked out by the UPDF.
Just over one week ago, the UPDF launched joint air and artillery attacks on ADF cells in Congo, particularly Ituri and North Kivu provinces.
The UPDF has since advanced into Congo and Gen Muhoozi believes that the rebels are living on borrowed time.
“To ADF combatants. You have seen what we (the joint UPDF/FARDC forces) are capable of. Operation Shujaa will continue until your terrorism ends. Many of your ‘leaders’ have already fled the bush and abandoned you to your fate.
Surrender now before it’s too late. The joint forces will receive you and give you a second chance,” said Muhoozi in a tweet.
Speaking during an interview yesterday, commander of Operation Shujaa Maj. Gen. Kayanja Muhanga said the ground forces have advanced towards the target in spite of a setback with the bad roads in the neighbouring DRC country.
He said that they have intelligence that the rebels are nursing a good number of casualties.
The ADF militants are blamed for recent bomb attacks on Kampala and Masaka Road.
