Last week on Friday, the government operationalized COVID-19 mandatory testing for everyone entering the country at Entebbe International Airport after President Yoweri Museveni commissioned the newly built Port Health Facility.
However, the move has caused a huge concern at Entebbe International Airport as incoming travelers have to spend close to 24 hours waiting for COVID-19 test results.
Ainebyoona Emmanuel, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health has come out and responded to concerns that are being shared all over social media.
”We are working around the clock to address the delays in the processes at the Entebbe International Airport. The mandatory COVID-19 testing for incoming travelers started today morning. We welcome all feedback from each in-coming traveler,” he said.
Previously Uganda has been only testing passengers from high-risk countries. For other passengers, they were required to arrive with a negative PCR test result done within 72 hours prior to travel.
