Betway Kobs has extended their Guinness 7s lead by six points after beating Stanbic Black Pirates 03-00 during the second circuit (Northern Circuit) of the series held on Saturday, 9th October 2021 at Pece War Memorial Stadium, Gulu City.
James Ijongat who came on late in the first half for Joseph Aredo who picked a knock in the final earned Kobs the win after his drop-kick late in the second half was the difference at full time, earning the title holders a slim win over a determined Pirates side.
The win earns Kobs another 22 points, making it 44 points after two successful circuits of the series. They now have six points above Pirates who again finished as runners-up in the first circuit (Mileke 7s) held at Legends Grounds in Kampala a week ago.
For winning the circuit, Kobs earned Sh500,000 as their star Ian Munyani returned home with Sh250,000 after claiming the MVP gong.
Kobs didn’t concede a try in Gulu as they whitewashed most of their rivals ahead of the third circuit (Eastern Circuit) slated for 16th October at Soroti Grounds, an event that will be hosted by local outfit Soroti Rangers.
In the semis of the Northern Circuit, Kobs hit Warriors 40-00. In the quarter-finals, they had beaten Rams 38-00. In Group A, they emerged atop after easing past hosts, Elephants, Warriors, and Impis.
