Police in Wakiso District with the help of local leaders of Bujuuko, Ntinda Village in Mende Sub County on Tuesday rescued a 15-year-old girl and her brother, who had been locked inside the house by their father Ibrahim Abdul Shakur Twebaze.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, said the suspect locked his daughter and son in the house as a strategy to stop them from reporting him to the authorities after defiling and impregnating the daughter.
However, due to the vigilance of the locals, Police was tipped off about the acts and immediately conducted a raid on the suspect’s home where it found the two children living in a sorry condition.
“The girl had been locked in the main house while the boy was confined inside a store but in a very filthy condition,” said Owoyesigire.
According to Owoyesigire, they have already interrogated the victims and preliminary investigations indicate that in 2020 the suspect first forced her daughter to get married to his friend only identified as Sheikh Muhammad.
The daughter ran away from Sheikh Muhammad whom she accuses of being abusive and violent. She returned home with pregnancy which his father once again forced her to abort.
Shockingly, as days went by, the father also started asking her for sexual advances until he also impregnated her.
At the time of her rescue, the victim was reportedly two months pregnant for his father.
The father was arrested and is now set to face charges of defilement, child torture, aiding abortion, among other charges. The police are currently hunting down Sheikh Muhammad who is currently on the run.
