Turkey-based Ugandan blogger Fred Kajjubi Lumbuye who is currently imprisoned in Turkey has written a letter to National Unity Platform (NUP)President Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and lawyer Muwadda Nkunyingi, thanking them for doing everything possible to sure he is released from prison.
In August, news that Lumbuye had been picked by unknown gunmen from his house in Istanbul, Turkey over unclear offences circulated on different media and social media platforms. State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Henry Oryem Okello, came out and confirmed the arrest before stating that Lumbuye was set to be deported, a statement he later denied.
NUP party sent a team of lawyers led by Nkunyingi to handle the controversy surrounding the deportation of Lumbuye. They called off the move after failing to locate Lumbuye.
Nonetheless, in September the Turkish-based government critic was located at KOCAELI Detention Centre.
Since then, they have been pushing to ensure his release.
In his letter to Nkunyingi, Lumbuye is hopeful that he will soon regain his freedom.
