The Dubai expo is a globally recognized trade expo being hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. Dubai was named as the host on November 27, 2013 by The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) General Assembly in Paris under the name Expo 2020.
The event was originally scheduled for October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021, it was postponed due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Despite being postponed, organizers kept the name Expo 2020 for marketing and branding purposes. The UAE selected the theme connecting minds, creating the Future for this year’s expo. The expo will have three subthemes: opportunity, mobility and sustainability, each with its own pavilion.
“In today’s highly interconnected world, a renewed vision of progress and development based on shared purpose and commitment is key. While a married human mind, an individual country, or a specific community is both unique and remarkable, it is by working remarkable, it is by working collaboratively that we truly advance.” Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said in a support bid.
The event happens in five-year intervals with the previous one having happened in Milan, 2015 while the next will be in Osaka, 2025.The Expo 2020 was officially opened on 30th September 2021 featuring an opening declaration was made by the Emir of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The event originally scheduled for October 20,2020- April 10,2021 was forcefully rescheduled over Covid 19. The Expo that will run up to March 31, 2022 and was officially opened on October 1.
More than 192 countries, including Uganda, are participating in this year’s World trade expo that stretches for about 182 days.

Uganda at the invitation of the Government of UAE will join over 190 countries and international organizations to participate in the expo.
Uganda is being represented by the highest state echelons as President Museveni touched base on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, UAE on a three-day working visit as part of the global expo.
The President was received by H.E Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al- Nahyan, the Minister of state in the Ministry of state in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of UAE.
At the expo, the president has pitched to investors stating that there is nothing that cannot be produced in Uganda as it is gifted with abundant raw materials.
“There is nothing that cannot be produced in Uganda,” President Museveni said.
