Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana and his Kawempe North counterpart Muhammad Ssegirinya yesterday appeared at Masaka Central Police Station to record statements in regard to the Masaka murders.
They arrived at Masaka CPS at midday. Ssegirinya was accompanied by his lawyer Shamim Malende while Ssewanyana was represented by the KCCA Mayor, Elias Lukwago as his counsel.
After a day long interrogatiuon, the duo was shortly detained at the Station before being released on police bond and ordered to return to the same station today on Tuesday September 7.
Their lawyers told journalists that the two have been charged with three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
The lawyers said that State alleges that the duo on the night of August 23 2021 murdered three people on Ssetaala village located in Masaka.
Earlier on yesterday, Police spokeperson Fred Enanga revealed that the two legislators have links to the murders in the greater Masaka.
He said these were implicated by the arrested suspects who are currently in police custody.
Enanga stated that the suspects admitted that they were recruited by the two MPs and promised wealth during a meeting in Ndeeba if they accomplished the job.
