Uganda’s Olympic 5,000m champion Joshua Cheptegei has done it again as he has won the 2 miles men final at the Diamond League track and field meeting in Eugene, USA.
Chepetegei comandingly pulled a sweet revenge on Ethiopia’s 21-year-old Selemon Barega who beat him to win gold in the 10000m at the Tokyo Olympics.
The world champion impressively crossed the finishing line in 8:09.55, a display that triggered him to do his celebratory gorilla chest-thumping.
Barega settled for the second place with 8:09.82 while US runner Paul Chelimo, the Tokyo 5000m bronze medallist finished third at 8:09.83.
Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo finished fourth.
