Shadow Foreign Minister and also representative of Kyadondo East in the 11th parliament, Lawyer Nkunyingi Muwada has disclosed that so far Turkey securities authorities have no records concerning the arrest of Turkey based Ugandan blogger Fred Kajjubi Lumbuye.
MP Nkunyingi together with Counsel Wameli Anthony were dispatched to Turkey by the National Unity Platform Party to establish more details about the reported arrest of Lumbuye, a blogger who subscribes to their party.
“We engaged an Additional team of highly skilled Turkish Lawyers this afternoon headed by Advocate ADNAN Sahin in the Search and Complimenting the existing team.
With the additional Legal Team we searched afresh several Police and Detention Centres today tracing Lumbuye. No breakthrough has been reached as all could not trace his name in the detention records of the last three weeks,” said Nkunyingi.
He explained that they have managed to secure permission to visit Turkish Prisons in the Search for Lumbuye.
“Available information indicate he was arrested by plain clothed persons using a private vehicle on August 3 2021 and has not been successfully traced to-date,” he said.
Earlier this week, police revealed that they had no Lumbuye in their custody but they (Police) have already prepared 15 case files against him.
Lumbuye is on the list of social media users wanted by police as he is a renowned government critic.
