Police in Mukono has arrested a woman identified as Akiteng Hellen for selling her daughter aged 9 months for ritual sacrifice.
According to police CID spokesperson Charles Atwiine, Akiteng was only paid Shs10000 after she had negotiated to give two kids at Shs2.5 million.
The witchdoctors have also been arrested and identified as; Semujju Ronald, Kizito Alex and Fred. He revealed that the body of the deceased was found headless in a pit latrine in Busoke village, Mukono district.
The four suspects will be charged to court with Murder and aggravated Trafficking.
According to the Prevention and Prohibition of Human Sacrifice Bill 2020, a death penalty is imposed on a person who commits the offence where such a person is a parent, guardian or person having authority or control over the victim of the offence or where the act results in the death of the victim.
”Where a person causes grievous bodily harm to the victim, the person should be liable to imprisonment for life and if the person causes any other injury to the victim, the person should be liable to imprisonment for ten years,” the bill also states in part.
