The State House Anti-Corruption Unit headed by Col. Edith Nakalema has arrested three nurses and two cleaners from Kawempe Hospital.
The group were netted after they were allegedly found with government drugs.
“Working with the Police, three nurses have been arrested with assorted government drugs which they had allegedly stolen from Mulago Hospital, Kawempe,” the Unit announced through social media.
It added, “Investigations have commenced and the unprofessional medical personnel with their accomplices will be arraigned before court.”
However, the unit did not reveal the names of the suspects.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Health has received mama kits worth Shs24 million to be distributed at Kawempe National Referral Hospital from Stanbic Bank. The kits will aid clean and safe delivery for mothers at the hospital especially at a time when the country is battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
