Robert Kyagulanyi’s singing partner, Ali Buken Ali alias Nubian Li, Eddy Ssebufu aka Eddy Mutwe and 16 others will today on Tuesday return to General Court Martial in Makindye for their bail application ruling.
The group has spent six months in detention and have on several occasions been denied bail. They were arrested in Kalangala last year in December while on Kyagulanyi’s campaign trail, and later detained in Masaka.
The group was then sent to the General Court Martial in Makindye and charged with unlawful possession of ammunition for being found with four AK47 rifle bullets in Makerere.
Two weeks ago, the army court released 18 of them on bail, excluding Nubian Li Eddie Mutwe, and 16 others. Lt Gen Andrew Gutti directed that the 18 be released on bail after the army prosecutors told court that they had no objection to the bail application by the group.
The remaining group was denied bail after army prosecutors led by Maj Samuel Maserejje told court that affidavits for their bail application had not been fully examined and asked court for more time to be able to look through them.
