President Yoweri Museveni has assured the country that the people who were involved in the shooting of Gen Katumba Wamala and the killings of her daughter Brenda Nantongo Wamala and driver Haruna Kayondo will be got.

Speaking during today’s State of nation address; Museveni confirmed that the gun that was used to assassinate one of the former commanders of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), Maj Muhammed Kiggundu in 2016 is the same gun that was used in an assassination attempt against former works and transport minister, Gen Katumba on Tuesday.

“These people who were involved in the Gen Katumba will be got. We have got some good leads,” said Museveni.

The President however accused the police officers who were manning cameras for negligence.   He said that Cameras that were installed are not only for forensic investigations but to create alarm and alerts.

“The camera I put in place did their work? Why didn’t the camera Centre alert all the patrol cars?” he said.

Museveni also directed police to stop using Mobiles phones but rather revert to use of radio calls that are present at each police station.

“If you do not have a desk for terrorism at your Police Post, you will go home and someone else will do the job,” he said.
