Forum for Democratic Change’s Erias Lukwago will today be sworn in for the third term as the Kampala City Lord Mayor.
The swearing-in ceremony will be presided over by the Chief Magistrate William Okello Ayo at City Hall and will be officiated by the KCCA executive director, Dorothy Kisaka.
Also total of 54 Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) councilors will take oath for a five-year term as representatives for different constituencies.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) won 41 out of the 44 Seats for the directly elected and woman Councilors at City Hall. The other three seats were taken by members of the FDC party.
According to the clerk to council Daniel Tumwebaze, the swearing-in ceremony will start at 9:00 am with the councilors and later at noon, the elected City Lord Mayor Lukwago will be sworn in.
Lukwago beat the NUP wave in Kampala after receiving 194,592 votes against the NUP candidate Nabilah Naggayi’s 60,082 votes. He beat Naggayi by a difference of 134,510 votes.
