Journalist Kagolo was killed by LDU officer, says Police

Sad news broke yesterday evening that Star FM journalist Robert Kagolo has been shot dead by unknown assailants on his way back from his brother’s burial.

Deputy Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire has confirmed the news saying the territorial Police at Wakiso are investigating the murder by shooting that took place at Bugembejembe village in Wakiso, on 29.04.2021 at around 8pm.

According to Owoyesigyire, while Kagolo was returning from the village after the brother’s burial , he hurriedly entered the late’s home which was being guarded by LDU personelle after he suspected that some people were following him and he knocked the gate with his motor vehicle while gaining entrance .

“It is from there that a disagreement between him and two LDU personelle who were guarding the home started, unfortunately the disagreement led to a shooting of which the circumstances are being investigated, the victim was later rushed to ST Joseph Hospital Waskiso where he succumbed to the injuries sustained,” said Owoyesigyire.

The shooter has been identified as Mamuli Rashid and was arrested by a joint team of Police and LDU command at the scene of crime together with his colleague.

Kagolo’s body is yet to be conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for Postmortem.
