Former NTV journalist Dean Lubowa Saava, has been arrested over offensive communication and cyberstalking.
Charles Twiine, the Public Relations Officer Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) says Saava was arrested by police detectives under the cybercrimes unit following a complaint by the State.
Twiine says that CID tracked the social media platforms allegedly used to commit the crime and verified that they belonged to Saava.
Twine confirmed that Saava is under police custody and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
One of his victims of cyber harassment, Radio 4 proprietor Balaam Barugahara said Saava tried to blackmail him with bogus claims that Balaam had grabbed Namasagali College land.
“Young people should work hard instead of looking for easy money,” Balaam said.
This is the second time Saava is being arrested, albeit for different crimes. In 2018 he was arrested on allegations of fraud, human trafficking and obtaining money by false pretense from Ugandans seeking jobs abroad.
