Current affairs analyst and veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda has termed Uganda’s political environment horrible as the country has been divided into two extremely divergent political camps.
Mwenda believes that Uganda is dangerously polarised as camps are very determined to push whatever they believe in at any cost.
“NRM is determined to cling to power at any cost. Then, we have the radical extremist wing of the opposition led by Bobi Wine’s people power. These are determined to bring down the government at any cost,” said Mwenda.
According to Mwenda, Museveni is more advantaged to continue pushing for his beliefs because he has better control of his base than Bobi Wine.
“Bobi Wine will say things just to please his base even though he doesn’t believe in them,” he said.
He blamed Bobi Wine’s camp for always looking for enemies even where they have allies instead of working towards creating a broad opposition.
Museveni was declared winner in the 2021 polls, Bobi Wine challenged his victory in court before deciding to withdraw the case citing bias of the judiciary. He vowed to bring down government in less than a year.
