Uganda Cranes will today evening face Burkina Faso in their second last game of the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers. The game will be played at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende at 4pm.
The Cranes are currently second in group B on seven points, a point shy of leaders Burkina Faso. The boys picked a valuable point off the West African Giants in Ouagadougou in the first leg fixture.
Uganda Cranes assistant captain, Emmanuel Okwi is optimistic the team is ready to pick maximum points.
“We know how important the game is. We are prepared as players and ready to fight for the best result against Burkina Faso. The preparations have been smooth; the coaches have done their best to make sure we are in fine shape,” said Okwi.
He added, ““I have been lucky to be part of the last two occasions when we have managed to qualify for Africa Cup of Nations but I think the spirit has always been the same. We are ready as players and hoping for the very best.”
Coach Abdullah Mubiru said they have successfully prepared the boys for the encounter.
“Everything we have tried to work on has been successful. The team is in good spirit, the players have been complying and responding well. Everyone is ready to face the task ahead of us. We are hoping for the best result in tomorrow’s game,” he said.
After today’s game, Cranes fly to Malawi by chartered flight for the final Total AFCON qualifier to be played on Sunday March 29 2021.
