President Yoweri Museveni has today morning paid his respects to the late former President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr John Pombe Joseph Magufuli at the Tanzanian High Commission in Kololo.
Museveni eulogized the Late Magufuli as a great leader, whose sole purpose in his reign was improving the lives of his people.
“President Magufuli was such a dedicated servant of the people of Tanzania, East Africa and Africa. It is such a great loss,” said President Museveni.
“It’s a challenge for the freedom fighters that are alive, to continue the struggle as we did in the past, because when we lost our comrades we never gave up, and because we never gave up, we succeeded,” he added.
Last week, Museveni congratulated Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan on assuming the Presidency in Tanzania before he announced that Uganda will observe a 14-day mourning period for the late Magufuli.
While delivering her speech during the swearing in ceremony last week on Thursday, Samia expressed her commitment to serve saying; “I can assure Tanzanians that there is nothing that will go wrong during this time. We will start where Magufuli ended.”
Magufuli will be laid to rest this week on Thursday.
