Recently the local football governing body FUFA has suspended many players especially in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL) for misconduct.
Nonetheless Khalid Aucho’s suspension from the Uganda Cranes camp has stood out with many politicising the incident as the player is a renowned Bobi Wine fanatic.
FUFA dismissed Aucho from Uganda Cranes Camp for alleged failure to adhere to the National team Code of Conduct. In a statement, FUFA said that Aucho refused to board the official means of transport organised to pick him from Entebbe International Airport to the team camp at Cranes Paradise Hotel-Kisasi.
Aucho also yesterday issued a statement apologising for his acts.
“I take full responsibility for the mistakes that led to my suspension from the national team camp. I regret my actions and I am ready to put this chapter behind me as it’s a dream to represent my country,” Aucho said.
Moses Magogo, the FUFA President says there is no rocket science in the suspension of players as the disciplinary committee only enforcing the rules of the game.
“The game of football is so popular. If you don’t protect it, it can be abused. There is nothing that is happening that is not written in the rules of the game. We are just enforcing the rules,” he said.
