The Uganda Golf Club (UGC) Lady Captain’s Prize Golf tournament returns this Saturday March 20, 2021, with an exciting 30th edition at the Kitante Golf Course.
And just like the past years, Tusker Malt Lager will add a premium touch to the tournament.
This year’s mode of play will be based on the Stableford format, where, unlike the usual counting of total number of strokes taken per play, players will be scored based on the number of strokes taken at each hole.
Top players in the Ladies Groups A-C and the subsidiary Men’s Groups A-C, will win prizes including cash, on top of other side bets.
Speaking to the media at a press briefing held at the Uganda Golf Club Terrace this morning, the outgoing UGC Lady Captain, Anne Abeja, was elated on the tournament’s return as it wasn’t held in 2019 due to Covid-19 restrictions.
“We are glad to be back and are grateful to our sponsors like Tusker Malt Lager without whose support we wouldn’t hold a tournament of the magnitude we are going to have. We expect over 200 participants this year,” Abeja said.
Abeja re-emphasized the club’s gratitude towards Tusker Malt Lager, for consistently providing an unmistakably fresh experience at the annual UGC Lady Captain’s Prize tourney.
Speaking at the presser, the Tusker Malt Lager Brand Manager Elizabeth Mutamuliza highlighted TML’s commitment to supporting the game of golf in the country.
“Tusker Malt Lager has a longstanding commitment to supporting and celebrating golf in Uganda. Our commitment is 100% undisputed and manifests in support of tournaments like this one, and the recent Uganda Open,” Mutamuliza said.
“Not forgetting that this is Women’s month, we encourage ladies to challenge the stereotype and join in on the game of golf,” she added.4
The tournament will climax with a spectacular 19th Hole experience, where players will be treated to a glamorous awards dinner washed down with the unmistakably fresh, crisp taste of Tusker Malt Lager and punctuated with light entertainment.
Other sponsors to the tournament included MTN, Britam, Marsh, Case Media Services, Stanbic Bank, Kigambira Safari Lodge and NTV.
