Arguably Uganda’s best female basketball star ever Flavia ‘Flirsh’ Oketcho has taken her winning mentality off the basketball court as she has been named new Dean of Students at Victoria University.
Flirsh is a graduate of Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication (Majoring in Marketing and PR) and has been playing her basketball while engaging in several business ventures as she is an entrepreneur, TV Presenter and Marketing consultant.
At VU, she will be expected to boost the sports activities at the Ruparelia-owned University and also bring a wealth of knowledge to improve the students’ welfare.
Flirsh started out her basketball career around 1998 and she is still moving strong being the most decorated basketball player. She has won the league with Lady Bucks, UCU Lady Canons, KCCA Leopards and JKL Lady Dolphins. She played her first league match in 2001 with the Lady Bucks.
In 2004 she was voted MVP in the East Africa Club Championship, which she helped to win two league titles. In 2005, she represented Uganda in the Zone V Nations Tournament.
Currently, she’s playing for JKL Lady Dolphins and also doubles the Gazelles captain.
