Ghana’s Black Satellites are champions of the Total Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after beating debutants Uganda Hippos 2-0 in the final played at Nouakchott on Saturday night.
The Satellites recovered from a low start to ensure they conquered Africa once again and a brace from their captain Daniel Afriyie was what Ghana needed to defeat Uganda on the day that their country was celebrating the 64th Independence Day.
Ghana clinched the fourth Under-20 continental title, and a first since their last conquest in 2009. The Black Satellites replicated the same score-line the two countries posted when they last met in a continental final, this being in the 1978 senior Cup of Nations.

Uganda was awarded the Fair play team award while Derrick Kakooza, Aziz Kayondo and Head Coach Morley Byekwaso were named in the Best XI of the tournament.

Kakooza also scooped the top scorer gong with five goals.
