The Uganda U20 National Team is living a dream at their debut appearance at the on-going Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania.
The Hippos overcame Burkina Faso in the quarter finals yesterday night on Thursday on penalties after a goalless draw in full time and extra time.
Uganda scored all its five penalties through Derrick Kakooza, Joseph Kizza Bukenya, Najib Yiga, Ivan Bogere and Kenneth Ssemakula. Goalkeeper Jack Komakech was the hero in the penalty shootout when he saved Yacoub’s kick.
The Hippos won 5-3 and booked their place in the semifinals. The result means that the youngsters are edging closer to the $200,000 (Shs740 million) winning cash prize promised by FUFA if they win the tournament.
Uganda will now face the winner between Tunisia and Morocco in the semifinals.
