The European Union delegation has today visited the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretariat and held a meeting with party members headed by Party Secretary-General Justine Lumumba Kasule and Deputy Secretary-General Hon. Richard Todwong.

After the meeting, the officials briefly addressed the media where the EU Head of Delegation, Attilio Pacific said that there is a mission to spoil the European Union relationship with the Ugandan government.

“Someone is creating problems between the European Union and the government. There is a lot of false information circulating and this is spoiling our relationship that has existed for the last 45 years,” said Attilio Pacific.

His comments come a few days after the EU Parliament recommended sanctions against Ugandan government officials for violation of Human Rights.

The NRM SG Lumumba said that NRM government is very transparent in all that it does and it’s unmoved by the continued propaganda by sections in the opposition.

She said that the last time European Union visited them (before 2021 elections), they wanted government to assure them about conducting a peaceful election. She claimed that the concerned authorities managed to pull off a peaceful election on January, 14 2021.
