The Kampala derby is on today as Express Football Club play host to KCCA FC at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League. Last year both sides shared spoils in their second leg encounter of the season with each side finding the back of the net once.
Hosts Express go into the match more confident as they are unbeaten this season in their six games so far. And in their last fixture they overcame hardboiled URA by a goal to nil despite being away. On the log, they seat fourth with 12 points.
While their rivals KCCA FC are fighting for consistence this season and go into match day seven with 9 points from 6 games. The 13 times Champions last picked a win in the league on December 11 2020 against Mbarara City FC at home in Lugogo and have gone on to lose the next three games since then.
Head Coach Mike Mutebi said it’s for his side to change their fortunes this season by picking maximum points against the old-time rivals.
“We will take the game so serious given its magnitude and history around it. It is a derby and derbies are won by teams that show the biggest of character on the day. We need to show that we want to win so that we can pick three points,” said Mike Mutebi.
The game will be played at 4pm and will be live on StarTimes.
