The National Unity Platform (NUP) Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has disclosed that the Independent Electoral Commission (EC) has stopped him and his team from proceeding with their remaining schedule of campaigns.
Bobi Wine said that the districts EC is barring him to step into are not amongst the hotspot areas restricted by the ministry of health due to fear of spread of COVID-19 but the EC demands them to first sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be allowed to proceed with his campaigns.
“The EC is not independent and seems to be operating on orders from above. It has been the military and police blocking me from campaigning. Now the body that has to protect me (EC) has also stopped me until I first sign an MoU,” Bobi Wine told journalists today at his party headquarters in Kamwokya.
The presidential hopeful has however vowed to use any means to reach out to his supporters in districts where he’s yet to reach.
“This is a modern generation where we have many ways of spreading the message of change. We shall reach out to our supporter either physically or any other means,” he said.
Bobi Wine will be in Namisindwa tomorrow, in Namayingo on Wednesday and back to Kalangala on Friday.
