BREAKING NEWS: NRM’s Muwonge declared winner of Kayunga LC5 by-election

National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s candidate Muwonge Andrew has been declared winner of Kayunga LC5 by-election.

According to the results announced by the Electoral Commission (EC), Muwonge garnered 31,830 votes against NUP candidate Harriet Nakweede’s 31,380 votes.

Speaking shortly after the announcement, NUP’s spokesperson Alex Waiswa contested the results saying their candidate won the by-election with 35000 votes.

This is Nakweede’s second defeat in the 2021 elections as she first lost to Idah Nantaba in the Kayunga Woman Member of Parliament race.
