Born-again Pastors denounce Bugingo until he repents

Under their umbrella body, National Fellowship of Born-Again Pentecostal Churches of Uganda, born-again pastors have denounced Pastor Aloysius Bugingo over his decision to remarry.

Bugingo is the Senior Pastor of House of Prayer Ministries International.

The church leaders in a statement on Thursday, two days after Bugingo conducted a traditional marriage with his second wife, Susan Makula, revealed that a committee of eminent was in 2019 assigned to intervene in the family matter of the embattled pastor.

“On May 14, 2019, Bishop Lwere, the General Overseer of the National Fellowship of Born-Again Pentecostal churches of Uganda, accompanied by three elders namely, Apostle Alex Mitala, Elder Peterson Sozi, and Bishop Morrison Mugisha met and admonished Pastor Bujjingo to stop using the pulpit and media to settle his family and marital issues.

The trio reportedly asked Bugingo to immediately stop discussing his wife Teddy in church and public.

“We told him it was totally unethical and unbiblical to discuss his wife in public and advised him to separate church and family matters. He promised to stop and it was agreed that these elders would observe him for three months,” added the statement.

They also condemned Bugingo’s move to marry a second wife.

“We have further learnt that Bugingo is proposing to divorce his wife so that he can marry another, and publicly encouraging others to do so. We want to emphatically state that we strongly condemn what Pastor Aloysius Bugingo is proposing ad doing,” said the statement.

“As church leaders, we preach and teach marital faithfulness, forgiveness, and reconciliation and we do not condone marital unfaithfulness, immorality, divorce, and other doctrines that undermine the sanity of family and marriage,” they added.

They then made pronouncements against Pastor Bugingo and his church.

“Therefore, we hereby denounce, and dissociate ourselves from Pastor Aloysius Bugingo’s outbursts, behavior, and doctrine,” they said.
