Madoya swings to Tusker Malt Golf Professional Open Title

Kenyan Jastas Madoya was crowned the best at the 2021 Tusker Malt Uganda Professional Golf Open championship in Entebbe.

Madoya scored a 1-over 72 on the final day to garner a total of 271 strokes over four rounds.

The Great Rift Valley Golf Resort golfer powered his way to the top of the leaderboard on day one thanks to his 6 under par 65.

He lost his lead after Day Two before returning to the summit on Day three with a 5 under par 66 to open a five shots gap.

He banks Sh22m, grabbing the lion’s share of the sh100m Kitty courtesy of Tusker Malt Lager.

The Kenyan, who won the Entebbe Open back in 2019, is quoted: “I am extremely happy winning this event with a better score than the Entebbe Open three years ago where I won with eight under par.”

He credited the triumph to his preparations before coming to Entebbe. “The few events we played at Vet Lab and Thika just before we came to Uganda really helped me to gauge my form.”

Dismas Indiza was second to collect Sh15m as Kenyans dominated proceedings.

Last season’s winner Robson Chinhoi came third followed by Ronald Rugumayo who was the best-placed finisher for Uganda.
