NUP on rearrest of Ssewanyana: Every citizen will eventually taste the bitter wrath of dictatorship

The leading opposition party, the National Unity Platform has said that it’s time Ugandans get united and resist the continued violation of rule of law by the regime.

Yesterday, having completed all the requirements to be released on bail from Kigo Prison, Hon Allan Ssewanyana was grabbed by armed men in black uniforms at the prison gates and thrown in a van (commonly called DRONE), and taken to a yet unknown destination.

The footage of his arrest has been making rounds on social media with many condemning the manner of arrest especially given his status of being a legislator.

NUP believes that the silence of Ugandans is the reason why the regime is carrying out such operations with impunity.

“Every citizen will eventually taste the bitter wrath of dictatorship. Every new day, the regime operates with even more impunity as it now has very little, if anything, to lose. Unfortunately, we will continue suffering this oppression until the day we decide that enough of this,” says NUP.
