Former VP Ssekandi donates 5 acres of land to Masaka City for construction of headquarters

Masaka City has received a donation of land for the establishment of it’s headquarters.

The land measuring 5 acres has been donated by former Vice President of Uganda, Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi. The donated land is valued at around Shs200m.

This comes years after the district searching for land to set up a spacious headquarters.

Ssekandi was born in Masaka District and he served as Member of Parliament for Bukoto County Central constituency from 1996 to 2021.

He served as Deputy Speaker of Parliament from 1996 to 2001. He was elected as Speaker in 2001, a position he held until 2011 when he was replaced by Rebecca Kadaga, Uganda’s first female Speaker of Parliament.
