High Court Judge Justice Margaret Apinyi has today dismissed the petition filed by National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Fred Nnyanzi Ssentamu in which he opposed the declaration of Muhammad Nsereko as the Kampala Central MP 2021-2026.

The Judge dismissed the petition on grounds that Nsereko was not duly served by Nyanzi.

While addressing journalists after the ruling, Nsereko claimed that it had to be him to win the case as Nyanzi only played drama all the way.

“The law is the law, you cannot confuse it with drama,” said Nsereko.

The MP further warned Nyanzi to stop sending him agents.

“He (Fred Nyanzi) should stop sending his agents to plead with me to forgive him of the costs because he did this with the aim of tarnishing my name,” he said.

Nyanzi petitioned court seeking for a vote recount as he claimed that several votes at various polling stations were not included in the final tally sheet in addition to disfranchisement of several eligible voters.

In January 2021 elections, Nsereko polled 16,998 while Nyanzi emerged second with 15,975 votes.
