Suspected suicide bomber arrested in Pader District allegedly planning to attack Gen. Lokech’s burial ground

Security forces have arrested one suspected suicide bomber who was allegedly planning to attack Gen Paul Lokech’s burial ground in Pader District.

The suspect identified as Katumba Abdul alias Ben was arrested on Thursday from Atimikica Guest House, in Pader Town Council where he had booked a room along with another colleague who is on the run.

Though police and other security agencies are tight lipped about the details, sources reveal that the arrested man was found with  a suicide jacket and other explosives which were going to be used in the attack. Security suspects that the attack was intended to revenge on people who were mourning Lokech.

During his security career, Lokech commanded several operations that fought terrorists and rebels in DR Congo, South Sudan and Somalia. He successfully crushed the Al Shabaab terrorist hence earning himself the name “The Lion of Mogadishu.”

However, its not yet confirmed whether Katumba Abdul belongs to any of the terrorism groups.

The body of the late Maj. Gen. Lokech was yesterday airlifted from his home in Kira to his ancestral home in Baibir Village, Pader District.

He will be laid to rest today with full honors from the police and a gun salute presented by the UPDF.
