Forum for Democratic Change Vice President Proscovia Salaamu Musumba has withdrawn a petition she had filed challenging the election of Rebecca Kadaga as the Kamuli District Woman Member of Parliament.

In March this year, Salaamu through her lawyers Galiwago & co. advocates and Isabirye & Co. advocates petitioned Jinja High Court expressing their dissatisfaction and distress with the manner in which Electoral Commission conducted the elections for the position of Kamuli District Woman MP which saw Kadaga retaining her parliamentary seat.

Musumba alleged that her genuine poll results were reduced at several polling stations while inflating the votes for Ms Kadaga thereby denying her deserved victory.

The hearing of the case has kicked off today and the petitioner (Salaam Musumba) through her lawyer Isabirye John wished to withdraw the petition before it’s heard. The hearing is still on-going.
