“People shouldn’t be worried about him,” Minister Oryem gives update on Lumbuye

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Henry Okello Oryem has given an update on the arrest of Turkey based Ugandan blogger Fred Kajjubi Lumbuye.

The motomouthed blogger was reportedly arrested a fortnight ago by the Turkish security authorities and taken to unknown destination. A day after his alleged arrest, Minister Oryem came out and confirmed the news of his arrest as he disclosed that he was set to be deported to Uganda and charged with several cases.

Since then there has been speculation about Lumbuye’s whereabouts as no official records indicate whether he was returned to Uganda or still in Turkey.

While appearing on NTV this morning, Oryem was tasked to explain the whereabouts of Lumbuye.

“He is alive, people shouldn’t be worried about him. The relevant authorities will at the right time bring him before courts of law. People should be busy looking for survival, not asking about Lumbuye,” said Oryem.

Last week, the National Unity Platform (NUP) party sent more lawyers to Turkey to establish the facts surrounding Lumbuye’s arrest. The lawyers disclosed that so far Turkey security authorities have no traceable records concerning his arrest.
