Lumbuye to be deported to Uganda tomorrow

Government through the Ministry of Foreign has confirmed the arrest of Turkey based Ugandan blogger Fred Kajjubi Lumbuye.

According to the State Minister for Foreign affairs Okello Oryem, Lumbuye will be deported to Uganda tomorrow morning as he’s already on the plane.

“On arrival he’ll be put in custody and later brought to book for inciting sectarianism using social media,” said Minister Okello Oryem.

Reports of Lumbuye’s arrest started circulating on Wednesday morning. They indicated he was arrested by the Turkish security authorities together with Ugandan External Security Organisation.

Lumbuye is among the alleged social media misusers that police recently singled out to be among those on its wanted list. He’s renowned for giving ‘shocking’ information about big government officials, Buganda Kingdom officials and some opposition figures.

The motormouthed blogger is a supporter of Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and National Unity Platform (NUP) Party.

Yesterday, NUP lawyer and MP for Kyadondo East Muwadda Nkunyingi petitioned the Turkish Ambasador in Uganda about their concerns surrounding Lumbuye’s arrest.
