After winning two medals last Friday in the men’s 10,000m, thanks to Joshua Cheptegei for the silver and Jacob Kiplimo for the bronze, more Ugandan athletes are still in pursuit for Olympic medals.

Yesterday Peruth Chemutai reached the women’s 3000m steeplechase final that is slated for Wednesday August 4 at 2pm (EAT). She finished second in Heat 1. She qualified automatically with a season best time of 9:12.72.

Similarly, today morning Winnie Nanyondo stormed the semifinals of the women’s 1500m race at the Olympics in Tokyo. The 27-year-old finished second after posting 4:02:24 behind defending champion Faith Kipyegon from Kenya who crossed the line in 4:01:40. She will compete for the final spot on Wednesday at 1:25pm (EAT).
