Gov’t officials applaud Besigye for actively advising about COVID-19, public wants him appointed Head of National Task Force

Amidst growing concern over the surging numbers of new COVID-19 infections, opposition strongman, Dr. Kizza Besigye has been appearing on various media platforms analysing government’s response to fight against COVID-19.

Besigye has however used the platforms to give hope to Ugandans on some of the homemade remedies that can help people manage COVID-19.

His advice has not only pleased the citizens but also caught attention of the government officials who are now commending his wisdom which they say will enable the country to respond effectively to COVID-19 pandemic.

Mike Mukula, the NRM Chairman for the Eastern region is one of those that have applauded Besigye.

“We may disagree ideologically, but a time like this when we are facing a global pandemic, I am humanly pleased to see you (Besigye) on media platforms advising and encouraging our population to heed to the SOPs, medical advise,” said Mukula in a tweet.

Similarly, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja disclosed how she is planning to meet with Besigye for advice.

“I want to visit Dr. Kizza Besigye. Wisdom is wealth,” said Nabbanja.

Some Ugandans especially on social media are calling upon government to appointe Besigye as the Head of the National Task Force.
