Ugandans who move without masks should be caned to keep other citizens alive – Basajja Mivule

Veteran media personality and political commentator Basajja Mivule has advised government to treat the current second wave of the deadly COVID-19 as a war if it is to save its citizens from dying.

Mivule believes that government should not stop at introducing measures to stop the spread of the virus but go an extra mile of being none selectively hard on those that flout the restrictions.

“It should deal with the current situation the same way it deals with protestors. It should deploy all army and police on streets of Kampala and other towns purposely to cane all those walking without masks,” says Mivule.

He says no government can exist without people and so Ugandans should be forced to stay alive.

The Ministry of Health said on Sunday that the country’s COVID-19 tally has reached 61,977, after 1,727 new infections were reported. Death toll stands at 428 as another five people have lost their lives to the virus
