Political analysts and a section of the public have been deeming Robinah Nabbanja, the newly designated Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business in Parliament as unfit for the position.

Many describe her as a ‘local’ woman who has no capacity to run the office of the Prime Minister.

Nabbanja has however described all that is being said about her as background noise. She admits coming from a ‘local’ and humble background but says that her devoted service over the years has got her where she is now.

Her journey started as a teacher, a Sub County Chief, Local Councilor (LC) five Kibaale district, Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Pallisa district, RDC for Budaka and Busia districts, and state minister of health and now Nabbanja is set to become Uganda’s first female Prime Minister.

“I might even turn out to be the best performing Prime Minister in Uganda’s history,” says Nabbanja.

My job is going to be more of a coordinating role. There are technical people in the Prime Minister’s office who will do the technical work,” she adds.

Parliament will resume on Monday June 14 at 10am considering a motion to approve Vice President-Designate Hon Jessica Alupo and Prime Minister-Designate Nabbanja.
